MEXICO CITY: JACARANDAS IN BLOOM

Mexico City is a place that reveals itself slowly. At first, it is the sheer energy of the city: the traffic, the sounds, the street food, the architecture, and the constant movement. Then you begin to notice something else. Leafy neighborhoods, quiet courtyards, sprawling parks, sidewalk cafés, and pockets of beauty tucked into nearly every corner.
Visit in spring, and the city offers one more surprise. Jacaranda trees burst into bloom, covering streets and parks in clouds of brilliant purple. Against colorful facades and blue skies, Mexico City feels almost impossibly vibrant.
Spend your days exploring world-class museums, wandering through neighborhoods, tasting your way through markets and restaurants, and discovering the layers of history and creativity that define this remarkable place.
Mexico City is big, bold, beautiful, and endlessly interesting. The secret is you’ll need to return to see it all.

MOMENTS IN MOTION
MEXICO CITY – In a dIfferent light

BEYOND THE OBVIOUS
Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the world, but its magic is often found on a surprisingly intimate scale. A neighborhood bakery in the morning. A flower stall spilling onto the sidewalk. Families gathering in the park. A tiny taquería packed at lunchtime. Art and architecture appearing where you least expect them.
Give yourself time to look beyond the landmarks.
THE NEIGHBORHOODS
Each neighborhood has its own personality. Roma Norte and Condesa are leafy, walkable, and filled with restaurants, cafés, galleries, and beautiful architecture. The historic center reveals layers of the city’s past, while Coyoacán feels almost like a village within the metropolis.
Choosing where you spend your time is part of experiencing Mexico City well.
AT THE TABLE
Come hungry. Food is one of the great pleasures of Mexico City, from tacos eaten standing on the sidewalk to beautiful contemporary restaurants reimagining traditional Mexican cuisine. Markets, bakeries, neighborhood favorites, mezcal, churros, and very long lunches all belong on the itinerary.
Food here isn’t simply something you fit between sightseeing. It is part of understanding the city.
THE UNEXPECTED
For such a large city, Mexico City is remarkably green. Chapultepec Park stretches through the heart of the city, while smaller parks and tree-lined streets soften neighborhoods throughout Roma and Condesa. And in spring, the jacarandas transform everything.
Purple blossoms fill the trees, scatter across sidewalks, frame historic buildings, and create one of the most beautiful seasonal displays I’ve experienced in a city.
Mexico City rewards those who wander.

STAY
CHOOSE YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD
Where you stay matters. Choose a walkable neighborhood such as Roma Norte or Condesa, where restaurants, cafés, parks, and shops are just outside your door. Polanco offers a more polished luxury experience with excellent hotels and easy access to museums and Chapultepec Park.
EXPERIENCE
MAKE IT PERSONAL
Explore the historic center, visit the extraordinary National Museum of Anthropology, wander Coyoacán, discover Frida Kahlo’s Casa Azul, and experience the city through its food. Pair the iconic sights with markets, neighborhoods, local guides, and plenty of time to simply explore.
PACE
LET THE CITY SET THE PACE
Walkable and easy to navigate, Mexico City is still enormous so don’t let traffic dictate your day. Group experiences geographically rather than crossing the city repeatedly. Explore one area, stop for lunch, wander a little longer, and leave space for whatever catches your attention.
WHEN TO GO
COME FOR THE JACARANDAs
Late February through April is especially beautiful as jacaranda trees bloom throughout the city. The exact timing changes each year, but when you catch those brilliant purple blossoms against Mexico City’s colorful streets, it is unforgettable. Spring also brings comfortable days that are wonderful for walking and exploring.
SECRET SPOTS & INSIDER TIPS:
Think in neighborhoods. Mexico City is huge. Plan each day around one part of town.
Come hungry. Leave room for everything from street tacos and neighborhood bakeries to a special restaurant experience. Some days, lunch may become the main event.
Use a great local guide. I know the very BEST! Mexico City has layers of history, art, architecture, and culture that are easy to walk past without understanding what you’re seeing.
Don’t rush the Anthropology Museum. It’s epic. Give yourself several hours to explore the extraordinary collection and architecture. It provides context for Mexico’s history and cultures that will deepen everything else you experience in the city.
Go south. Coyoacán deserves time to wander beyond Casa Azul. Explore the streets, plazas, markets, and neighborhood life.
Don’t overschedule. Some of the best Mexico City moments happen when you have nowhere you need to be next.

A FINAL THOUGHT…..
There are cities you visit.
